Bracing for IMPACT: Leading with a Growth Mindset

  • Registration Closed

All too often when you hear the phrase ‘brace for impact’ there is an immediate sense of an impending catastrophe, but why can’t we alter that mindset,  why aren’t we collectively bracing for our IMPACT, viewing our network as Individuals Making Progress Across Communities Together.  211, long a critical yet more recently overlooked community asset, has experienced a renewal over the course of the past year.  211s are creatively leveraging program infrastructure to advance their mission and create more equitable access to vital community resources.  The concept of the Modern United Way challenges 211 leaders to leverage each of our unique assets in order to create stronger communities in ways that require a growth mindset, hard work, creativity, and continuous learning.  This session will focus on how approaching these challenges with both a growth mindset and an eye towards continuous learning can not only increase impact but create a stronger 211.

After attending this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Find new and innovative methods to overcome barriers and address needs within your community.
  • Embrace this momentum and use it to build new partnerships and enhance brand awareness.
  • Acknowledge and embrace challenges
  • Growth is uncomfortable but the end result will be worth it.
  • Identify your agency’s strengths as use this current momentum to build upon them to provide solutions
  • Cultivate a sense of purpose to build morale.

All too often when you hear the phrase ‘brace for impact’, there is an immediate sense of impending doom, but why can’t we change that? Why aren’t we collectively bracing for our IMPACT, viewing our network as Individuals Making Progress Across Communities Together. Prior to COVID-19, 211s were experiencing a gradual decrease in call volume and questioning about the value of our services. Since COVID-19, our call volume has increased substantially and continues to climb. Not only did we shift our way of doing business, but we had to shift our mindset to find new and innovative ways to serve our community. Our communities have enlisted us for assistance across all aspects of the COVID-19 response and at times this has created angst and uncertainty about whether or not we have the bandwidth to meet the demand. This is at the core of the ‘Modern 211’ and Leading with a Growth mindset which allows us to take on and learn from challenges, therefore increasing our abilities and our impact. We can’t be afraid to take chances and use our strengths to provide solutions.
