Mary Turner is the Director of Missouri Family to Families in Kansas City, MO. She is the blessed mother of a child who has disabilities who has taught her how to grow up and live a "good life". Mary has ran Foster Care and mental health and substance abuse private community agency with a personal focus on understanding individuals and families whose lives have been touched by I/DD and SHCN. She taught in local universities and has led many continuing education sessions on a variety of topics including compassion fatigue and self-care and has a passion to keep a robust workforce in the helping profession by supporting and motivating those in the field to practice self-care. Mary believes continuing education sessions should leave the participant with the "so what" question being answered for personal/professional application and growth. In her spare time, Mary enjoys spending time with her family out of doors, or eating! and with her menagerie of 3 dogs and 4 cats

Using Charting the Life Course Tools, Transformational Change, and Motivational Interviewing skills to guide person-centered thinking; person-centered planning to guide individual clients to create their plans for their self-defined Good Life in the community.

After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Review Motivational Interviewing skills to enhance team meetings leading to client-centered planning.
  • Describe how Charting the Life Course Tools can enhance the teams' dynamics leading to a client's plan for their own Good Life.
  • Identify tools for resolving conflict within teams that prevent clients from obtaining their goals leading to a cohesive, individualized client plan.
