The AIRS Conference is the Premier Event for providers of community navigation services from multiple sectors. If your organization helps connect people to community services, then this is the place for you to be. This package contains pre-recorded sessions from this event.

This workshop will clearly outline how we connect veterans, service members and their families to resources in the area,. We will offer best practices for de-escalation techniques to be implemented over the phone and this training will cover the basics of military culture, language used and common terminology so that specialists can connect more deeply while providing I&R.

Veterans with police involvement, criminal charges, or incarceration are at increased risk for homelessness, overdose and suicide. The VA has two programs that partner with justice systems to reduce risk and improve outcomes for those Veterans and their communities. This workshop will describe the missions, methods, and partnerships of those programs, as well as specific treatment options available to justice involved Veterans. Professionals who provide I&R to Veterans will learn how and when these programs can help, and how to refer Veterans to them in their communities.

This package helps Community Resource Specialists expand and round out their skills for serving special populations like military, youth, and individuals with mental health disorders. It also explores the role of I&R in disaster preparation and response and how to apply your skills in the digital environment of chat and text. These courses can be taken in any order. Packages are 10% cheaper than purchasing each course separately.

This course is for Information & Referral (I&R) Specialists who handle human service inquiries and need some additional knowledge and understanding to better handle issues involving U.S. military service members and their families. This interactive course will help an I&R professional to better understand military clients, what their needs are, some of their unique challenges (including the cycle of deployment and return), the military language they are speaking, and the resources that are available to help them. This course was developed in cooperation with the Navy Fleet and Family Support Center, San Diego, to assist I&R Specialists everywhere.

This session is designed for front line I&R staff across all skill levels who provide programs and services to veterans. Participants will learn about the complexities of military life, the challenges of reintegration, and some tools and tips to provide world class service to this population.
