Dennis is the Client Services Manager at the SHIP Technical Assistance Center located at Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging. In that capacity, Dennis provides training and technical assistance to SHIPs on interpersonal communication skills, offers technical assistance to support SHIP users of the national database (STARS), and responds to requests for assistance through the TA Centers toll-free number. He has been at the TA Center for just over 5 years. He holds a master’s degree in Mental Health counseling with over 35 years of experience. Before working at the TA Center, Dennis worked in child welfare in various positions ranging from counselor to senior management. His specialty areas include using trauma-informed care principles to build a more robust agency culture, managing challenging behaviors, and utilizing soft skills to get better outcomes for those we serve. Dennis has served as a peer reviewer for the Council on Accreditation reviewing human service agencies around the country. He has also served as a consultant for behavior management issues. Dennis is an amateur photographer and loves photographing roller derby in his spare time. After more than 12 months on a waiting list, he also enjoys camping with his family and is about to become the proud owner of a new teardrop camper.
