Crystal Hood

Information & Assistance Director

Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), Detroit, Michigan

Crystal Hood is the Information & Assistance Director of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA).

She served in multiple roles from 2012 as a Certified Community Resource Specialist to her current role as Director.

In addition, I served as agency lead on the AAA SAGE-LGBT Older Adult Coalition and the AASA PREVNT Elder Abuse Pilot Project, which was presented at the 2018 n4a National Conference.  Crystal currently serves as co-lead on the DAAA COVID-19 In-Home Vaccination and Booster Program for homebound seniors, caregivers, and family members.  

She attended Central Michigan University where she obtained a master’s in Health Care Administration.  

Virginia Dize

Co-Director of the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center (NADTC) and Program Director

USAging, Washington DC

Virginia Dize joined USAging in January 2008. As Co-Director of the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center, she oversees USAging’s efforts to support transportation within the Aging Network and related transportation projects. Her work in transportation and mobility includes managing several rounds of demonstration grants and developing publications on older driver safety, pedestrian safety, volunteer driver programs, transportation for elders living on Indian reservations, and diversity. With over thirty years of experience in aging programs, Virginia is also a respected authority on program issues related to innovations in-home and community-based services, family caregiver issues, and consumer direction. Before joining the staff of USAging, she served as an Associate Director of the National Association of State Units on Aging.
Virginia holds an MS in Gerontology from Virginia Commonwealth University and BA in History from Mary Washington College.

Select the "View On-Demand Recording" button to begin.  |  48 minutes Connecting diverse clients to transportation options can pose a unique set of challenges and barriers, but understanding and valuing the diversity of callers is the first step to building inclusive strategies that will begin to address these issues. This webinar will provide a brief overview of the importance of transportation equity. It will include key findings from a nationwide survey on transportation DEI conducted by the National Aging and Disability Transportation Center in 2021. Additionally, attendees will hear from Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA). They will examine ways to leverage a potential Specialized Services Transportation Program to provide services and enable essential trips for their target population.
