Rose Y. Ortega has worked with the Harris County Area Agency on Aging since April 1995, first as a Certified Information & Referral Specialist (CIRS), then as a Benefits Counselor, and most recently as a Senior Counselor. 

Ms. Ortega’s functions include advocating for older adults regarding benefits and entitlements.   She has been involved with the Medicare and Medicare prescription drug coverage enrollment activities and other related programs such as Low-Income Subsidy (LIS) or extra help for people with limited income and resources.    Outside of the office, she is a volunteer 8th-grade teacher with the CCE-Continue Christian Education program at her church which teaches children the Catholic faith. In her home, for the past 30 years, she has been married to J. Guadalupe Ortega and is the mother of 20-year-old Maximiliano “Max” Ortega. The latter is going to college to become a personal trainer and physical therapist.
